I am sometimes disappointed with the content from Donut Media. First off, I bought the domain donutindustries.com a few years ago right when Donut was coming in to popularity. I couldn’t launch an automotive brand in the same space. Second, I feel like James Pumphrey is just always yelling at me. And third, I am just jealous they get to pump out viral automotive content all day and make a living out of it. This week they posted a great video on the venerable Toyota 2JZ inline-6 against GM’s LS V8. It’s a great watch for car nerds.
Another casualty of the global pandemic is a huge shuffle in Formula One. Ferrari and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel announced they would be parting ways at the end of 2020. Carlos Sainz Jr. will be taking his place in 2021. That leaves an empty seat at McLaren which Daniel Ricciardo is filling, leaving with some harsh feelings from Renault. 2021 is going to be an exciting season. No word on if Vettel will seek retirement or that empty seat at Renault.
The stands will be empty when the NASCAR Cup series starts its season at Darlington Raceway today. I will be tuning in just to see if the boys still know how to drive real race cars.
Motorsports is almost back. Hallelujah.
