David Sparks and David Kiley are now in their 6th season on Discovery. Their reality TV show follows the Diesel Brothers and their crew as they build up crazy trucks at their Utah shop, Sparks Motors. How crazy? 6x6 F-550 crazy.
Heavy D and Diesel Dave seem to have found themselves in a little trouble with the law. Back in 2016, Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment filed a lawsuit against the Diesel Brothers for violating the Clean Air Act. A judge ruled in UPHE’s favor this week and the Diesel Brothers owe the Federal government and Davis County Utah $851,451 for rolling coal. They may also owe $1.2M in plantiff’s attorney’s fees. The same group is also going after national off-road accessory chain 4 Wheel Parts.
Properly tuned diesel trucks make great power and don’t have to be gross polluters. Gale Banks of Banks Power sits at the other end of the extreme. His 50-state emissions compliant Duramax diesel tunes net 81hp and 144lb-ft. But the Diesel Brothers show us why we can’t have nice things. Let’s hope this settlement doesn’t turn up the heat on enthusiasts and businesses that are going about things the legal beagle way.
