croatia, eh?

almost 3 years ago, The Grand Tour host Richard Hammond was nearly killed in a Rimac Concept One. the all-electric sports car was capable of 0-60 sprints in 2.5 seconds and its 1200+hp carried it to a top speed of over 220mph. few people had heard of the company at the time (or even now?), but since then they’ve taken on a significant investment from Porsche and also boast Hyundai, Kia, and Chinese battery company Camel Group as investors.

Rimac has moved on from the Concept One on to C_Two.

the opening scene of their new promo video took my breath away. in my extreme americanness i honestly wouldn’t be able to pin point Croatia on a map, but Automotodrom Grobnik certainly has my attention. that track looks like amazing fun.

the thing that excites me the most about the C_Two isn’t the powertrain. it’s the aero. at this point it seems like you’re not going to make an electric supercar without bringing some behemoth power figures. i remember active aero was banned from grassroots autocrossing over a decade ago so the active aero elements on this car aren’t exactly “new” thinking. if you’ve followed a modern McLaren you’ll see their flappy boi wings flying all over the place. i’m just satisfied to see active aero become something of a supercar requirement.
